The wrinkled shell( A new "you" coming forth)

It's amazing to see that whenever the shell or outer layer of cabbage or onion is torn out, there is always a new and fresh layer inside, but it cannot be seen until the old and wrinkled shell is removed.

I even learnt sometimes ago in my secondary school biology that the nymph cockroach has to undergo molting; a process of shedding its skin to make way for new growth.

As we progress in life, there are certain, ideologies, beliefs, or habits that have to be left behind to truly show that we are growing.

Even though the new layer is embedded in the wrinkled shell, yet it has to be put off because it is wrinkled and can never be new again and also for the new one to be seen.

For instance, a Christian who claims to have the new life of Christ but yet still keeps malice with his/her neighbor or a Christian sister and brother engaging in premarital sex or not, but engage in all forms of intimacy that are meant for the married (such as romance) has not yet put off the wrinkled shell.

The wrinkled shell needs to be put off; an end has to come to that addiction, anger, pride, Bad habits, character flaws, and the likes.

The evidence that you are growing is your ability to unlearn, learn and relearn certain things. Probably, you are a person that your society has taught you that one cannot be rich without engaging in fraud or ungodly shortcut to success; you have to unlearn that belief because it's only then that your eyes can be opened to see various Godly ways to be successful in life.

 

Could it be that character flaw of yours that is scaring away people who ought to help you from you?

 Could it be that bad habits of yours that you failed to curtail that is affecting your marriage now?

Work on yourself daily to become the best version of who God wants you to become. Invest in yourself, get knowledge, read books, attend programs and seminars that will impart your life, you cannot afford to remain a mediocre.

A new season has come, be sensitive to know what to put off and what to embrace.

I challenge you today to put off the wrinkled shell for the new "you" to come forth. Always remember a new wine cannot be put into an old wineskins because the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. Therefore, new wine must be stored in new wineskins, and that way both the wine and the wineskins are preserved. (Matt9:17 paraphrased)
